25 August – 27 August 2011
Oldbridge House, Drogheda

In 2010 Upstate commissioned writer Aidan Harney to research the oral history archive maintained by Drogheda Local Voices. The archive houses a wealth of anecdotes, reminiscence and personal memories collected in interviews with people from a broad social spectrum of the local community. The ‘Shared Heritage Programme’ was born.

The first public presentation of the work ‘Come Forward To Meet You’ was hosted by the Battle of the Boyne Visitor’s Centre, Oldbridge House, as part of the Drogheda Arts festival in May 2011. The performance is based on the oral testimony of local woman, Angela Mitchell, who lived and worked on the Oldbridge estate as a servant in the 1920’s. The performance invited audiences to surrender to their very own journey, cross paths with Angela and immerse themselves in an intimate and interactive experience in the original kitchen area of the big house.

Come Forward To Meet You was a unique collision of oral history and highly physical performance. It was created by people from a wide spectrum of the Drogheda community and directed by Louise Lowe.
